Feline Diarrhea PCR
Panel
Test code: P0028
- Feline diarrhea panel. This panel includes qualitative detection
and differentiation of the following feline diarrheagenic
pathogens using various PCR protocols:
Vets frequently see diarrhea in
cats that could be caused by a number of different viral,
bacterial or protozoal agents. Recommended treatments and
quarantine protocols differ among these pathogens, and some can
be quite expensive and stressful for animals and owners.
The Zoologix feline diarrhea test panel is a
powerful, cost-effective diagnostic tool for use in these
cases. Zoologix performs this panel using highly specific,
sensitive and fast PCR test protocols.
All nine assays are run from one fecal
sample or rectal swab, eliminating multiple sampling
requirements.
Utilities:
- Confirm the pathogen causing diarrhea in cats
- Selection of appropriate treatment regimen
- Shorten the time required to confirm a clinical
diagnosis
- Ensure that cat groups are free of listed diarrheagenic
pathogens
- Early prevention of spread of listed pathogens
- Minimize human exposure to listed pathogens
- Safety monitoring of biological products that derive
from susceptible animals
Specimen requirement:
1 ml feces, or rectal swab, shipped overnight at room
temperature.
For specimen types other than those listed
here, please call to confirm specimen acceptability and
shipping instructions.
For all specimen types, if there will be a
delay in shipping, or during very warm weather, refrigerate
specimens until shipped and ship with a cold pack unless more
stringent shipping requirements are specified. Frozen
specimens should be shipped so as to remain frozen in transit.
See shipping instructions for
more information.
