Tickborne disease PCR panel

Test code: P0025 - Tickborne disease PCR panel detects and differentiates the following tickborne pathogens using PCR protocols:

• Anaplasma platys
• Babesia
• Bartonella
• Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease)
• Ehrlichia - includes Ehrlichia canis, Ehrlichia risticii (the etiologic agent of Potomac horse fever) and other common Ehrlichia species
• Rickettsia - includes Rocky Mountain spotted fever and other common Rickettsia species
• Francisella tularensis (tularemia)

Vets frequently see generalized symptoms that could be caused by a number of different tickborne pathogens. Recommended treatments and quarantine protocols differ among these pathogens, and some can be quite expensive and stressful for animals and owners.

Specimen requirement: 0.5 ml whole blood in EDTA (purple top) or ACD (yellow top) tube, or 0.2 ml synovial fluid, or tick.
