Equine breeding PCR panel
equine assay data sheet
Equine
breeding PCR panel
Test code:
P0024 -
Equine breeding PCR panel includes qualitative detection and
differentiation of:
The pathogens included in this panel are responsible for many cases of
poor breeding performance, low milk production and/or sexually
transmitted disease in horses. PCR detection is a useful technique for
quick, sensitive and specific identification of the disease-causing
agent prior to breeding. The ability to detect multiple pathogens from
one specimen minimizes the inconvenience and cost of collecting,
handling and shipping multiple specimens.
Utilities:
-
Early prevention of the spread of listed diseases
-
Protection of valuable breeding stock
-
Help confirm the pathogen causing poor breeding performance
-
Selection of the appropriate treatment regimen
-
Shorten the time required to confirm a clinical
diagnosis
-
Help ensure that horse populations are free of listed
pathogens
Specimen
requirements:
Urogenital swab, cervical swab or 0.5 ml semen.
For specimen types
other than those listed here, please call to confirm specimen
acceptability and shipping instructions.
For all specimen
types, if there will be a delay in shipping, or during very warm
weather, refrigerate specimens until shipped and ship with a cold pack
unless more stringent shipping requirements are specified. Frozen
specimens should be shipped so as to remain frozen in transit. See
shipping instructions for more
information.

Qualitative reverse transcription coupled PCR and qualitative real
time PCR
